Glittering ghetto pop cabaret.
Formed in Berlin in 2006 by Brennan and NY based music producer Oli Chang (of seminal Sydney experimental dance music group uBin and washed out NY freak folk duo High Highs), the group pioneered a unique form of camp ghetto pop cabaret, drawing on wonky techno, contemporary performance and deconstructed pop music personas. Following a string of notorious performances at Berlin clubs alongside RATATAT, Planning To Rock and onstage bust ups with NY questionables Rub N Tug, the duo returned to Sydney where they instantly landed a spot at the notorious Bang Gang club night and a month long residency at Club 77.
In 2007 they signed to Sydney label and home to Flume, Future Classic and released their self titled release to critical acclaim. Amongst keeping people out of prison, creating sounds for screen and recording, the duo tore up shows with Ed Banger’s Uffie and Feadz, Le Tigre’s JD Samson, Holy Ghost, Norway’s Datarock and headlining at Tokyo super club, Yellow alongside DJ Fantastic Plastic Machine and epicly permed Japanese pop phenomenon DJ Ozma. The group mutually decoupled in 2009.
